While the contemporary dental care industry is shaped by large corporate chains of clinics, we strive to deliver a more personal, bespoke experience. Many clients still feel unease at the thought of a visit, and we consider it our personal mission to help them conquer their dental fears. In doing so we value a personal connection, and we are proud to have built a strong base of loyal customers and entire families that continue to visit us for many years. A strong and continuous focus on the latest technological developments and trends helps us to ensure our patients enjoy the utmost in comfort, and state of the art treatment diagnostics at all times. We also pride ourselves in working with a network of highly trained and experienced professionals in different fields of expertise, in case referral is needed.
Our team
Carolien Thio
General dentist, clinic owner Carolien earned her academic degree in dentistry between 2000 and 2006 at the Academic Center for Dentistry Amsterdam (ACTA). After graduating, she has gained experience in multiple clinics, allowing her to broaden her set of skills and knowledge. Between 2009 and 2010 she completed a postgraduate program in international healthcare management, economics and policy at the renowned institute of Bocconi University, Milan. Her remaining tenure through these years has been her clinic at Bijlmerdreef, in the Amsterdam Zuidoost-area. As of 2017 Carolien has opened up her own, newly constructed clinic at EGoli. Carolien is originally from Apeldoorn, and currently lives in Amsterdam with her husband and two young children.DAVY PRATASIK
General dentist finished his dental education in 1980 in Groningen. He has since then worked at several locations, among which some psychiatric clinics. He has held his own practice in Amsterdam Zuidoost since many years and is keen on continuing it for some more years at the new location. Davy lives with his wife in Amsterdam.JESSICA PRAMANA
General dentist Jessica went to dental school with Carolien and has build a lot of experience in the field since. Not only as a general practitioner, but also at the department for Specialized Dentistry (ACTA). Born in Ridderkerk, she lives with her family in Amstelveen now.NICOLE
Dental assistant Nicole is basically the face of the clinic, as she mostly occupies the front desk. But she has many other qualities, and one can find her often in the role as dental assistant too. Nicole was born and raised in Amsterdam, but moved to Almere around 30 years ago, where most of her family also lives now.DAPHNE
Dental assistant Daphne is a true Amsterdam resident and has never left the city. At work, she is hard working and funny, managing several important activities. She lives with her husband and children in the outskirts of Amsterdam.ANNETTE
All-round assistent Annette is the newest member of our team, but she's actually making a come-back in Zuidoost. Many years ago, she used to work with Davy, Nicole and Daphne, and since they have always kept in touch, it was not hard to convince her to join us. Just as Nicole and Daphne, she is a true all-rounder. Annette lives closest by our clinic, in Ouderkerk, with her husband and children close to her.EMILY
All-round assistent Emily joint our team in 2017 as an assistant, also helping patients with the oral hygiene. She spent most of her life in Spain, but moved to Amsterdam to live with her husband nearby our clinic.Our work environment
Emerald Dental is equipped with the latest technology in dental care. Equally important to us however, is for our patients to feel comfortable. We strive to provide an environment that enhances the well being of both care giver and patient alike. Our spaces bring in natural light, and help to create a relaxing environment with the utmost comfort level. Our team will spare as much time as possible, and we aim to provide a relaxing treatment that will leave our patients feeling revitalized and reenergized. Our clinic is situated in the peaceful, newly built neighborhood E-buurt, in Amsterdam Zuidoost-area, between Diemen and Duivendrecht. Accessibility is excellent using public transport: several bus and metro lines cross our area, and parking space is available and free of charge. Shopping, lunch or dinner is only a five minute walk away, with both the Amsterdamse Poort shopping area and World of Food with many exotic and Mediterranean cuisines around the corner. Ikea, the Villa Arena furniture mall and Arena-boulevard complete the Zuidoost-experience.
